Product Description
In 1903 the United States introduced the most powerful military cartridge in the world for use in the Springfield model 1903 rifle. Three years later some minor adjustments were made including the introduction of a lighter and more streamlined bullet and the new standard military cartridge was accordingly baptized .30-06 Springfield.
This is easily the most widespread hunting cartridge in the world although it has been pressed hard by the .308 in later years. Its case has a near optimum capacity for many bullet diameters and a large number of wildcats have been made using the .30-06 as a starting point.
With the wide range of bullets available - from 110 to 250 grains - it is an extremely flexible cartridge which has been used successfully for hunting almost every species of game in the world.
Most hunters prefer the 180 grain bullets for all-round hunting of larger game. In mountains and other places where long range shots are to be expected, however, the 150 or 165 grain bullets might be a better option. The only drawback of the .30-06 is that its recoil with the heavier loads is on the limit of what most inexperienced shooters can handle, but with handloads and lighter bullets this problem can be eliminated.

First time using NORMA ammo !!
So I went into a local sporting good store looking for my usual classic Remington core -lokt ammo for my Remington 7600 pump action rifle. They had sold out because it was a month away from opening day of white tail season . The guy at the store had one box of NORMA ORYX 165 left on the shelf and I has no choice but to try them . I took my rifle to my cottage that weekend to sight it in and make sure that everything was ok . I loaded 3 shells of the 165 ORYX soft points into my rifle and shot a 1.5 to 2 inch group at 50 yards with a scope . Then loaded 3 more rounds in and this time moved to 30 yards and used my iron sights this time and got another grouping around 2 inches . I was very impressed . So I went home cleaned my rifle and decide to take the scope off because we hunt hard woods with dogs and iron sights is my go too . So the second day of deer and bear season I was at my watch when a doe walked 30 yard broad side .... BANG I drop that 150 lb doe in her tracks . I was very impressed ! Then I heard more crashing ! This time is was to the right of me a black bear was running from our dog around 50 yard threw some brush . I shot 3 times and hit the bear twice . He dropped 10 yards away from the first time i hit him . There I was 5 minutes apart with a doe and a bear on the ground !! The NORMA ORYX 165 grain bullets have some serious stopping power . I found this ammo by accident and I am very happy I found it . I now only shoot ORXY 165 it’s right in the middle of the 150 and 180 Grain . I think it’s perfect for deer and bear !! Very impressed with this ammo . And would recommend to anyone !
